Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) organized a Seminar on Cleaner Production in Household at Gajjar Hall, Ahmedabad, with objective to spread awareness towards Cleaner Production, Resource Conservation, and Waste Minimization in household.
The dignitaries participated in the programme were Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC and Shri Lalit Sanghvi, Expert, GCPC including more than 100 housewives and lady entrepreneurs from various fields.
The programme started with Saraswati Vandana by GCPC-ENVIS Officials. Dr. Jain, shared his experience working in the field of Cleaner Production and Clean Technology, he briefed Industrialization in Gujarat and the need for Cleaner Production – a pollution prevention strategy, including the activities and achievements of GCPC-ENVIS Centre.
The programme continued with presentation on scenario of water and energy scarcity and the importance of water conservation by Ms. Disha Bhavsar, Assistant Environment Engineering, GCPC and Ms Tarjani Jani, Assistant Environment Engineer, GCPC
Ms. Priyanka Joshi, Information Officer, GCPC-ENVIS made presentation on Scenario of Food and Electronic waste and tips for its management. She showcased a documentary film on food waste during various family functions and marriages which were highly appreciated by the participants. She introduced various ideas such as reusing food waste as organic manure.
Shri Punamchandra Rathod, Dy. Environment Engineer, GCPC graced the occasion mentioning about various financial assistance schemes by state and central government for solid waste management / minimization, waste-to-energy projects, harnessing of renewable energy at home etc. He also highlighted the innovative concept initiated by the Department of Forests & Environment, Government of Gujarat. The concept is all about sending SMS for tree plantation at your place, free of cost.
Shri Lalit Sanghvi delivered special address during the concluding session of the seminar.
The programme concluded singing National Anthem.
