Description of contents/ agenda
Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) with support of Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) and GIZ, Germany organized a Workshop on Planning and Development of Industrial Parks for Women Entrepreneurs in Gujarat on 18th January, 2017 at Staff Training College, Gandhinagar.
The workshop had nearly 100 participants from GIDC, planners from industrial development agencies of the Government of Gujarat, officials from Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and from the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA), GIZ and GCPC.
The inaugural session started with welcome address from Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC and address by Smt. D. Thara, IAS, Chairperson, GCPC and Vice Chairman & Managing Director, GIDC.
The technical session were conducted on “Sustainable Environment-friendly Industrial Production” (SEIP) including presentations, interactive sessions and intensive group exercises.
The workshop focused on “Planning and Development of New Industrial Parks and Retrofitting of Existing Industrial Estates into Eco Industrial Parks”.
The key topics covered under the workshop includes:
  • Site Master Planning, Greenbelt Development, Innovation & Competitiveness
  • Approach for development and management of infrastructure, services, park management system
  • Implementation road map: key steps, role, responsibilities and timeline including the discussion between the experts and the participants on challenges / problems faced in the existing industrial areas and the possible solutions for the same.
  • Showcasing of National and International case examples on industrial planning and development
Group Exercises:
Under the group exercises the participants were divided into groups to work on relevance of the following quality parameters for the industrial areas in Gujarat and to priorities specific parameters of relevance inclusive of Economic Quality, Environmental, Social, Technical, Innovation and Process Quality.
Further, the “Game of Zones” was used to do role play of investors and GIDC. The participants actively participated in the exercises and the discussion were productive.
The open discussion was held between the participating industries and Smt. D. Thara, Chairperson GCPC and Vice Chairman and Managing Director, GIDC wherein she urged participating industries for their fruitful suggestions for the betterment of industrial development in the state of Gujarat.
The workshop concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC.
