GCPC organized “Capacity Building Programme for Academicians on Cleaner Production and Clean Technology” on 15th September, 2017 at Gandhinagar.
The event witnessed participation of dignitaries:
  • Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC
  • Shri Sushil Vegda, Senior Environment Engineer, GPCB
  • Dr. Gaurang Ban, Head of the Environment Department,
  • L.D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad
  • Ms. Almut Reichart, UBA, German Environment Agency
  • Ms. Brigitte Zietlow, UBA, German Environment Agency.
The objective behind organizing this programme is to promote “Research and Development’ in the field of Cleaner Production and Clean Technology including the development of skills and expertise on CP & CT.
The programme started with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries and welcoming the dignitaries with Tusli plant as it is the symbol of purity.
The programme continued with welcome address by Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC. He mentioned about the objective behind organizing this programme. He mentioned that as Cleaner Production is included as a subject in curriculum of B.E. and M.E. Environment in colleges of Gujarat the programme is organized with objective to  building Capacity of Academicians on CP & CT. The session continued with address from dignitaries on dias and with presentations during technical session.
Technical Session:
  • Introduction: Cleaner Production: Concept, Tools & Methodology –  by Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC & Coordinator, ENVIS
  • Case Study on RECP Implementation in Textile Sector & Best Available Techniques – By Ms. Almut Reichart, Expert UBA, Germany & Ms. Brigitte Zietlow, UBA, Germany
  • Case Study on RECP Implementation in Chemical Sector, Recycle Paper Sector, Dairy Sector by GCPC Officials including the Case Study on  Eco Industrial Park Development by Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC & Coordinator, ENVIS.
The programme concluded with discussion and Q&A between the experts and the participants.

Objectives
Promote best practices, programs, local initiatives and lessons learned on SCP related projects in Asia and the Pacific region
Description of contents/ agenda
“11th Asia Pacific Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production”, organized by APRSCP, PCD/MoNRE, UNEP and KU at Bangkok, Thailand. More than Hundred Participants were invited from various countries of Asia Pacific and Europe. Mr. Vichet Kasemthongsri, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment, (MoNRE) Thailand was invited as Chief Guest along with senior dignitaries from APRSCP. The inaugural session started with welcome address from Mr. Sena Peiris, President, Board of Trustees, APRSCP and other dignitaries.
The inaugural session concluded showing video on “Envisioning the Future We Want in Asia and the Pacific. Plenary Session was organized on 19th May’2014 to discuss “Public Private Regional Policies, initiatives and Cooperation towards SCP and Green Growth. Session continued with a roundtable discussion on Eco-Industrial Parks, examples from India and China discussing about various EIP’s from China and to replicate the same in India. Session concluded deciding to prepare a road map ahead. On 21st May’2014, Dr. Anthony CHIU, led the inaugural session welcoming participants from various Cleaner Production Centers. Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC discussed his experience on implementation of Cleaner Production and its policy for Gujarat with case studies on Eco Industrial Park Development, Naroda. He discussed the issues of “Retrofitting of existing Industrial Estates” of Gujarat into “Eco Industrial Parks”. The participants appreciated and thanked Dr. Bharat Jain, for his presentation and for notable work in Gujarat towards EIP.
