Description of contents/ agenda
5th Global Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) with the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF), 2017 has gathered senior government officials, leading international practitioners of RECP as well as Cleaner Production (CP) experts. The conference has underlined the value of RECP and that of the Global Network for RECP in promoting eco-innovation and circular economy approaches around the world. The event witnessed participation of various dignitaries from UNEP, European Commission and Sitra and around 1,200 key people at Finlandia Hall, Heilsinki, Finland.

On 3rd June, 2017 the regional chapter meeting of 13 RECP Centres from Asia and Pacific Region was held wherein presentations were made by representatives of Cleaner Production Centres from Asia and Pacific Region.

Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC presented the activities and achievements of RECP implementation in India, including the activities of GCPC as an Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre. He also included that industries are being rewarded with Cleaner Production Award for their successful implementation in the field of Cleaner Production and Clean Technologies.
The conference had detailed discussion on electing head / representative of Asia and Pacific Region, under which the elections were held between China and GCPC, Gujarat, India, where GCPC based on its performance was elected as a head/ representative for Asia and Pacific Region.

The session continued with presentation from Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC wherein he presented the Case Study on Eco Industrial Development through RECP Application in Industries of Gujarat. He also discussed about the prestigious project recently undertaken by GCPC awarded by UNIDO on Planning and Development of Eco Industrial Park in Gujarat at Dahej and Nandesari, he showcased the activities undertaken by GCPC so far under this project. The presentation was highly appreciated by the participants.
