The objective of the 12th APRSCP is to foster dialogue and partnerships among multi-stakeholders about developing and implementing innovative policy solutions, up-scaling technology and knowledge benchmarking, approaches and instruments towards the development and implementation of programmes on SCP in the region.
Description of contents/ agenda
“Green Industry for Sustainable Cities”, the fourth Green Industry Conference (GIC) took place in Ulsan, Republic of Korea from 28 to 30 June. The conference was jointly organized by Ulsan Metropolitan City and UNIDO, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, the Small and Medium Business Administration, the Korea Energy Agency, the National Research Council of Science and Technology and the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group.
It brought together around 400 participants, including high-level government officials, representatives of the private sector, industry associations, academia and civil society – to explore the interdependence between industry and cities in the context of resource efficiency, green technology and eco-innovation.
The Conference explored the interdependence between industry and cities in the context of resource efficiency, green technology and eco-innovation. A special feature of the GIC will be field visits to state-of-the-art manufacturing sites in the city of Ulsan, the industrial powerhouse of Korea and a model for eco-industrial parks.
Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC participated and explored “Green Industry & Circular Economy: Eco-Industrial Parks towards Common Framework”
He explained the strategies and case studies of Eco Industrial Parks Development in Gujarat, India, including the initiatives taken by Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre in Retrofitting of Existing Industrial Estates into Eco Industrial Parks in Gujarat, including Planning and Development of New Industrial Parks.
Dr. Jain, also discussed about the common environmental infrastructure facilities in the industrial estates of Gujarat, inclusive of common effluent treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, multi effect evaporators, marine diffuser arrangement including implementation of Industrial Symbiosis at Naroda and Vapi.
He also elaborated the positive impacts of Eco Industrial Parks Development in Gujarat on Flora, Faunna and Human Beings.
The presentation was highly appreciated by experts and participant.
