The First Thematic Session was organized on 21st June,2016 at Conference Hall, Nandesari Industries Assocation with objective to develop understanding on the Pilot Project on Resource Efficient & Cleaner Production (RECP) to Foster Eco-Industrial Development in Eco-Industrial Parks in India at Nandesari awarded by The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Headquartered at Vienna, Austria.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Punamchandra Rathod, Senior Project Engineer, GCPC briefed the objective behind organizing this thematic session under the project.
Shri B.C. Patel, Chairman, Nandesari Environment Control Limited, graced the occasion saying that the participating industries will get chance to obtain technical expertise from National and International experts on RECP which will ultimately help industries in increasing their productivity and environmental performance.
He also mentioned about the financial assistance provided by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat Industrial Policy, 2015 on implementation of Cleaner Production and Clean Technologies.
Dr. Jain, also mentioned about the “Gujarat State Cleaner Production Award “ for successful implementation of RECP including various financial assistance schemes provided to the industries on implementing RECP.
The session continued with address from Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, GCPC wherein first of all he wished participants for International Yoga Day. He beautifully correlated the science of Yoga and the concept of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP), saying that as the Yoga is a ‘preventive’ approach towards maintaining good health and wellbeing, RECP is the preventive approach towards maintaining healthy environment.
He shared glimpses of Industrial Development in Gujarat including development of various product clusters, saying that Gujarat has been acting as the Chemical Hub of India.
He shared the objective behind this Pilot Project, saying that the project will help improving resource efficiency and environmental performance of the industries to create sustainable industrial development in Nandesari.
The project aims on Developing and Transforming Existing Industrial Estate into Eco Industrial Parks through Industrial Symbiosis, Common Environmental Infrastructure, Capacity Building of Individuals on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP).
The session continued with presentation by Mr. Pumanchandra Rathod, Senior Project Engineer, GCPC on Initial Summary of the Project, Introduction of UNIDO & GCPC, RECP tools, methodology and the concept of Eco Industrial Parks.
He also mentioned about the detailed activities under the project including the execution strategy.
During the concluding session various questions were raised by the participants pertaining to various aspects of the project which was responded by Dr. Jain.
The session concluded with vote of thanks by Shri B.C. Patel, Chairman, Nandesari Environment Control Limited.
